What’s Holding You Back?

fearless faith sign on fence

If you were to ask yourself the question; “What keeps me from pursuing my dreams?”, how would you answer it?  Many people have forfeited their futures, dashed their dreams and even sabotaged their own happiness simply because they were afraid!  Afraid of failing, afraid of trying, afraid of being misunderstood or even afraid of succeeding. Whatever the rationale is, the underlying issue is fear.  Fear, when kept in its proper context is very healthy, however, when its allowed to run rampant in our lives, it becomes toxic and unhealthy.

As people of faith, God challenges us to feel the fear, but move anyhow. Isaiah 35:4 says; “say to those with fearful hearts, Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance, with divine retribution he will come to save you.” The journey of faith is never without complications, challenges and obstacles, therefore, how you approach your future is always determined by how you handle your fear.  God promises to assist you, no matter what life brings you and His assistance is designed to help you fulfill your created purpose.  Fear paralyzes, but faith propels and if you are being held hostage by fear, this is a good time to remind yourself that my future can still be successful!

The first step in becoming successful happens when you put your fears in their proper place – the back seat! I dare you to look at everything telling you why you can’t succeed and declare – Not This Time!

Committed,
Pastor Kenney

  1. Sometimes fear is sensible, like the kind that suggests we really should put our seat belt on when we get into a car. Sometimes it isn’t, when we stand under the Eiffel Tower and we are convinced it is about to fall down. And sometimes it develops into an anxiety disorder and ends up having a very profound effect on our ability to cope in the world.

    1. Our God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind! I appreciate your honesty and transparency and our prayer is that God will grace you with the courage to step into your bright future, free of the grip of fear! Father, we simply ask You to free our sister from the grip of fear! Empower her now to walk into the liberty of Your Spirit so that her days to come will be brighter than her days of past!
