There are times in life when the challenges we encounter blind us to the goodness of God. We say quite often that God is good all the time, and all the time God is good, but for many people, if you were to ask them to highlight just how good God is, they would have a hard time doing so. What happens oftentimes is that the enemy deceives us into believing that God’s goodness can only be measured when everything is going smoothly. If you have ever found yourself in a precarious situation and it appeared that God was nowhere to be found, then you know what I’m talking about. You were in the valley but you came to discover a side of God in the valley that you never would have experienced on the mountain and your testimony is God is just as much God in the valley as He is on the mountain.
The psalmist gives us his testimony in Psalm 34 about the goodness of God. At some point in his life, he faced a fearful moment but in the midst of a fearful situation, he experienced first-hand the reviving ability of God. The text says God delivered him in verse 9; provided for him in verse 10; hears him in verse 15 and then God redeems him in verse 22. He saw God’s goodness, which meant he also tasted the goodness of God, but tragically though, some people miss out on the tastiness of God because they are too busy waiting for God to do something spectacular. When you realize that God’s presence is spectacular enough, then you rest with confidence about the outcome of your future!
When you make the decision to hide in the protection of God, then you are able to declare to every issue in your face and your space that I’m Confident About My Future. Not because I have it all together but because God does! I can move forward with confidence because I have a history with God that tells me when I hide in Him, he will hide me from them! I’m not sure who or what the “them” are in your life, but God can bring you out! He can take you through, keep you safe, supply your need, fight your battle, calm your fear, ease your troubled mind, satisfy your deepest hunger and quench your greatest thirst.
I’m confident about my future because God holds priority in my life and when God is the CEO of your life, then you can move through life CONFIDENTLY! The psalmist says in verses 4-5; “he sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed.” He was saying in essence, I can recall my yesterday and my experience with God back then has given me confidence about my future! Let me encourage you to look back and see just how far you’ve already made it with the help of God and then tell yourself – I’m Confident About My Future!
